Komunamedia and its sub-company Komunikatori was founded in 2000 by young professionals who had insider experience of the Georgian media, from working within it.
We work in the field of media production, media consulting and management, content production, advertising and PR; as well as producing documentaries and other independent programs for radio and TV.

 | Geopop (1999-2002) was a popular showbiz weekly broadcast on Georgia’s two most popular TV channels, which spanned art, media, fashion and music.

In the community sphere, the company produced a daily magazine-format TV program (2004-2005, Georgian 1st channel)) called Vakansia (or Vacancies) where job-seekers where put in touch with employers. Vakansia.ge – the associated web site of the show is still helping people to find jobs or promote new vacancies.

The late-night TV show (1999-2002) Komunikatori (Communicator) also dispensed help and advice to callers of all ages.

RADIO
Muzorama (Fortuna, 2004 until the present day), is a weekly installment of what’s new globally on independent music labels (http://www.muzorama.com/ is the blog-based version with free and legal MP3 music and latest infos on international independent music). Music Hall (Fortuna +, 2004 until the present day) follows a similar format except that it features new directions in electronic music (http://www.dance.ge/ is the company's internet site for interested parties to keep abreast of electronic music via the Web).

PUBLIC SERVICE
For the 2003 (November) Georgian parliamentary elections, in conjunction with GORBI was commissioned to do an internet survey of Georgians abroad and their election candidates of choice (www.komuna.ge continues to keep Georgians living and studying abroad up to date with happenings in their homeland).
Prior to that, the company assisted ZDF (Channel 2 of German Public Broadcasting) in their coverage of the new government’s rise to power – the ‘Rose Revolution’ and the presidential elections in January 2008.
Since 2000 the company and GORBI has been monitoring all Tbilisi radio stations, from which Georgia’s weekly Top 20 is compiled.
From January 2007 the company has been providing production and PR services for the first Georgian contestant in the Eurovision song contest, Sopho Khalvashi.

Sergi Gvarjaladze (the founder)
| Sergi Gvarjaladze is a popular TV and radio presenter, film director, producer and musician in Georgia. As well as this, he has built up extensive commercial production experience, alongside a string of projects of a social nature. He has worked within the Georgian media for 20 years. He is a citizen of Germany, who has worked in the music industry in that country since studying at the Westfalische Wilhelms-Universitat Munster (arts, media and PR) in 1994. He lives in, and divides his time between, both Georgia and Germany. Therefore, among Georgians, his experience in the local and western media is unrivalled. |
His pioneering programs for the Georgian media include: Extremely Popular (Channel 1, 1990-91), award-winning Showbiz Digest (91-93, Channel 2), presenter/producer of Komunikatori (1999, Channel 1; 2000, TV Rustavi2); he has been producing and presenting radio programs since 1994 for just about every Georgian station. Social documentaries include: the Georgian Civil War (1991) with American cameraman Charly Steiner, and most recently – a Europe-based music commission for Georgian national television (Electronauts, 52 min on Georgian electronic music). In September 2005, as a respected and approachable public figure Open Society–Georgia invited him to be a consultant to the Foundation’s project “Assistance to the unemployed citizens of Georgia”.
Since January 2007 Sergi Gvarjaladze has been consulting the Georgian Department of Tourism and Resorts.
Further, he is involved in other projects of a socially beneficial and useful nature: he managed the project ‘Georgian Society for Performing and Reproduction Rights’ (1997) and was chairman of the Georgian Copyright Association (GECA).
He was one of the founders (2002) of “European House” – an independent NGO/Think Tank raising public awareness and policy research, with the goal of Georgia’s integration into the European Union.
Sergi’s music projects included well known Georgian bands and projects: Sakhli, Genetic Code, Georgian Dance Mpire, Bibi da Sergi. At the moment he works on two different music projects as Sir G (electronic music) and John Jolly (indie pop).
From 2006 to 2007 Sergi has been the editor in chief of the first Georgian music monthly magazine O3 (Ozone / www.ozoni.ge) . Since 2000 he is the founder and the editor in chief of blog based KOMUNA.GE and MUZORAMA.COM
His latest film Dancing with Georgia (Tańcząca z Gruzją) has been broadcasted on TVP2 (second channel of Polish television).
